The High Court has directed the DNPSC to respond to appeals seeking to set up an expert panel headed by a retired High Court judge to examine the sample answers of the Group 1 preliminary examination.
In January last year the Group 1 primary examination was held on the basis of 300 marks out of 200 questions. The case was filed in the High Court seeking the setting up of an expert panel to examine the answers to 60 questions out of which 200 sample questions were published as incorrect.
Based on the High Court order in the case, the expert panel examined and filed a report stating that only one answer to the question was incorrect. It was also informed that all the candidates were given appropriate marks.
The High Court, which recorded this, dismissed the case of the candidates.
Appeals against the order of the separate judge were filed in the High Court.
In those petitions, it was stated that the case was dismissed without discussing the sample answers and the details of the basis on which the expert panel concluded that only the answer to one question was incorrect were not disclosed.
Furthermore, it was stated that the answers to all the questions should have been researched. It was also requested that an expert panel headed by a retired High Court judge be constituted and ordered to review all the questions and answers.
The bench, comprising Justices MS Ramesh and Mohammad Sabiq, adjourned the hearing after ordering the Public Service Commission to respond to the case.
