The Chennai High Court has clarified that all the rules, including the conditions of work of teachers in the All India Council for Technical Education, will govern all universities, including peer universities.
AICTE The All India Council for Technical Education (AIIMS) has announced the rules for 2019, which will set the retirement age for teachers at 65 and allow them to extend their tenure for five years with certain conditions.
In this context, two teachers have filed a case in the Chennai High Court against the Puducherry University of Technology for granting them compulsory retirement at the age of 62 in violation of these rules.
Judge Parthiban, who heard the case, ruled that the AICTE's rules govern all universities, including peer universities, and ordered the reinstatement of two teachers who had been forced to retire.

ஏ.ஐ.சி.டி.இ. எனும் அகில இந்திய தொழில்நுட்ப கல்விக் குழுமம், ஆசிரியர்களின் ஓய்வு வயதை 65 என்று நிர்ணயித்தும், அதன் பின் சில நிபந்தனைகளுடன் ஐந்து ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பணி நீட்டிப்பு வழங்க அனுமதித்து 2019ம் ஆண்டு விதிகளை அறிவித்திருந்தது.
இந்நிலையில், இந்த விதிகளுக்கு முரணாக 62 வயதில் தங்களுக்கு கட்டாய பணி ஓய்வு வழங்கியதாக புதுச்சேரி தொழில்நுட்ப பல்கலைக்கழகத்துக்கு எதிராக இரு ஆசிரியர்கள் சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்கு தொடர்ந்தனர். இந்த வழக்கை விசாரித்த நீதிபதி பார்த்திபன், ஏ.ஐ.சி.டி.இ.யின் விதிகள் நிகர்நிலை பல்கலைக்கழகங்கள் உள்ளிட்ட அனைத்து பல்கலைக்கழகங்களையும் கட்டுப்படுத்தும் என தெரிவித்து, கட்டாய பணி ஓய்வு அளிக்கப்பட்ட இரு ஆசிரியர்களையும் மீண்டும் பணியில் சேர்க்க உத்தரவிட்டார்.
